Journey Routers Travel, holiday packages By Bhavishya Jain
Journey Routers: a 0 to 1 SEO build, from 1,018 to 75,000+ monthly organic clicks
A holiday-package brand was publishing pages that couldn't rank. The sites winning its searches weren't writing better blogs; they had better page systems. So the work started with a teardown of those winners, fixed the foundation first, then built destination demand the competitors weren't covering. Non-branded organic leads went from almost zero to 1,000+ a month.

Chapter 1
Day one: a site that couldn't rank what it sold
Journey Routers sells curated holiday packages. Every sale starts with an enquiry about a destination, often months before the trip. In June 2025 the site drew about 1,018 organic visits a month, and non-branded searches brought in almost no enquiries. The pages that matched what people were searching for weren't being found at all.
Publishing more wasn't the answer. The templates the pages were built on, the duplicate URLs and the missing structure meant new content would have had the same ceiling.

Chapter 2
The teardown: who was winning, and why
Before writing a plan, I took apart the sites ranking for the money searches in each destination. They weren't winning on word count. They won on page systems that matched how travellers search, clean structure Google could crawl, and links between pages that pointed authority where it mattered.
| What decides the ranking | Winning sites | Journey Routers, day one | The opening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page coverage | A page for each destination, month and theme | One general page per destination | Month-wise and theme searches nobody answered well |
| Site structure | Clean URLs, one version of each page | Duplicate URLs and canonical conflicts | Fix once, and every page benefits |
| Internal links | Hubs feeding package pages | Important pages buried deep | Route authority to the pages that sell |
| Package pages | Detailed itineraries, inclusions and prices up front | Thin, similar page copy | Our own itineraries and prices, which they can't copy |
Chapter 3
The charter: foundation first, then demand
Every item was scored by impact against effort. The foundation went first because it lifted every page at once; the demand work came second because it needed that foundation to rank.
June to August 2025
Quick wins: the foundation
Templates, canonicals, page structure and crawl problems fixed across the site.
September to October 2025
Compounding bets: demand
Destination, month and theme coverage, stronger package pages and internal links. The first gains show in clicks.
November 2025 to February 2026
Payoff: compounding growth
Coverage and authority stack up. Monthly clicks climb from about 5,000 to 75,000+.
Chapter 4
Five plays that ran together
| Play | What it did | Headline result |
|---|---|---|
| Clean foundation | Templates, canonicals and crawl fixed first | Clicks began rising from September |
| Demand by destination and month | Six destinations mapped by month and theme | 3 to 5 times more ranking keywords |
| Package pages that sell | High-traffic package pages rebuilt | 1,000+ non-branded leads a month |
| Authority where it matters | Internal links routed to money pages | 232 keywords in the top 3 |
| Measurement you can trust | GA4 and Search Console reporting rebuilt | Every page tied to enquiries |
Play 1
Clean foundation before any new content
The idea. Content on a broken base inherits the ceiling. The fastest way to lift every page was to fix what all of them shared.
What we built. Fixed page templates and on-page structure, restructured URLs, sorted canonical and robots rules, rebuilt sitemaps and cleared the crawl errors that mattered.
What it returned
The growth curve turned in September, once this work had landed
Play 2
Demand by destination, month and theme
The idea. Travellers don't search "Bali". They search "Bali in December", "Dubai nightlife" or "Georgia honeymoon package". The winners covered those; we didn't.
What we built. Demand maps for Bali, Vietnam, Georgia, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia, including month-wise and nightlife searches, turned into a content and page plan.
What it returned
29,000
ranking keywords, 3 to 5 times more
Play 3
Package pages that sell, not just rank
The idea. The highest-traffic package pages were closest to an enquiry. Small improvements there paid back fastest.
What we built. Rewrote and restructured the top tour package pages for search intent and engagement, using the itineraries and details only Journey Routers has.
What it returned
1,000+
non-branded leads a month, from almost zero
Play 4
Authority routed to the pages that matter
The idea. Authority was spread evenly across the site. The winners concentrated it on the pages that convert.
What we built. Stronger internal links across static pages, so important pages were found faster, crawled deeper and gained authority.
What it returned
3,648
SERP feature appearances
Play 5
Measurement the business could trust
The idea. If organic can't be tied to enquiries, it gets treated as a cost, not a channel.
What we built. A reporting setup across GA4 and Search Console, plus an SEO-friendly blog on WordPress with clean structure and indexing. The weekly report works like my free Search Console automation.
What it returned
Organic reported in enquiries, so leadership could plan around it
Chapter 5
Results: day one against today
| Measure | Day one | Today | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly organic clicks | 1,018 | 75,000+ | ~74× |
| Non-branded leads a month | Branded only | 1,000+ | New lead channel |
| Ranking keywords | Baseline | 29,000 (232 in top 3, 2,570 in positions 4 to 10) | 3 to 5× |
| Search visibility | Baseline | 10× baseline | 10× |

Chapter 6
What this taught me
Study the winners before writing a word
The teardown showed the gap was structure and coverage, not content volume. That saved months.
Fix what every page shares first
Three months on the foundation looked slow. It's the reason everything after it worked.
Match how people actually search
Month and theme searches carry intent a general destination page never captures.
Report in enquiries, not rankings
Once organic was measured in leads, it became a channel the business planned around.
“Foundation work looks like nothing for three months. Then it compounds. Every page we shipped after August had something solid to rank on.”
